Important Notices from the Office of the Superintendent

__________________________________________________________________________________________________           September 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Keeping students healthy and in school is important to their education. With flu season fast approaching, we would like to remind families of the important ways recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to prevent the spread of the seasonal flu virus.  These include:

  • Frequent Handwashing
  • Cover your cough
  • Staying home if your sick, and
  • GETTING THE ANNUAL INFLUENZA VACCINE

In the past the Saco Schools have offered immunization clinics in our schools in response to the H1N1 epidemic of 2009.   Flu vaccine has become more readily available in the community, therefore flu immunization clinics will not be offered in the schools.  This decision will be evaluated on a yearly basis dependent on the influenza climate.

Seasonal flu vaccine is readily available in the community from:

Your Healthcare Provider,

Home Health Visiting Nurse Services

Local Pharmacies

Local Hospitals

More information on Seasonal Influenza is available from the Maine and US CDC at:www.Maineflu.gov & www.cdc.gov

These resources also provide valuable information on other Communicable diseases that may be of concern including:

West Nile Virus  and  EEE – eastern equine encephalitis http://www.mainepublichealth.gov

Please refer to your Child’s Primary Healthcare Provider to make sure your child is up to date on all their immunizations.

The School Department shall maintain permanently a record of a student's name, address, phone number, grades, attendance record, classes attended, grade level completed, and year completed. To obtain special education records, please contact the Special Services Department at 207-284-4505.
