School Board

School Board Responsibility:

The Saco School Board by policy, state law, and City charter are charged with the responsibility of setting policy and assuring that the School Department is well run. The School Board does not manage the day-to-day operations of the School Department, nor do members become individually involved in addressing parent complaints or employee issues. School Board members’ authority is confined to when they meet as a board of the whole in public session. Therefore, they do not weigh in on policy matters as individuals, but rather as a board in public session.

Any suggestions or concerns should be discussed with the teacher/staff of the School Department directly involved. Then, if necessary, you should talk with the building principal or department administrator. If there are still concerns after addressing them at the school level, please contact Superintendent DePatsy at 284-4505.



Meetings:

The School Board meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of ­each month, except during school vacations, or as otherwise noted. Additional m­eetings may be scheduled as needed. All meetings are held at the City Hall Council Chambers at 7 p.m., unless otherwise announced. All meetings are broadcast on the local public access channel and streamed online.
